Wilbur’s General Store

Who knew that tucked away in a suburban corner of Holland Park you’d find Brisbane’s best gourmet sandwich joint? The folks at Wilbur’s General Store are the south side sandwich savants serving up quality coffee, sweet treats and, of course, delicious sandwiches from what used to be an old corner store, and, even if you’re not a local, they are worth the drive.

The range of fresh sangas here is second to none. By morning you can sink your teeth into stacks of bacon and egg provolone with relish and aioli on sourdough, while more lunch-worthy options include turkey, brie and onion jam on sourdough (get it toasted), or mortadella, prosciutto, provolone, guindilla peppers and salsa verde on garlic focaccia. That’s just a few of the options on offer—you’ll literally be overwhelmed by choices. 

Whatever you go for, make sure you grab something sweet to go with it—we recommend a decadent, housemade salted dark chocolate cookie. As for drinks, Wilbur’s is pouring smooth coffees, teas, frappes and fresh juices to wash it all down. Grab a table to dine in if you can score one, or take all your goodies to go.
